The Magical Arts Department offers instruction in areas in
which it is nearly impossible to find a qualified teacher. Alas, there are just
not that many wizards and witches around anymore! Seriously, though, there is a
real need to preserve the Old Ways and integrate them into the modern world,
which so lacks the connection to nature and magic that is our birthright. These
courses offer genuine certification in these subjects.
Want
to become a certified witch? There is more to it than you might think.
This is an amazingly rich tradition that goes back well beyond the
Middle Ages. The main textbook for the course is Raymond Buckland's
authoritative classic The Complete Book of Witchcraft, which is
not only an excellent sourcebook for the Wiccan religion but also
earth-based religions in general. Buckland's manual does not adhere to a
specific branch or denomination of witchcraft, but rather seeks to teach
the elements and philosophies common to all, whether Celtic, Saxon,
Finnish, Gardnerian, etc. Buckland is credited with bringing the "old
religion" to the U.S. The workbook includes rituals, exercises for
developing psychic talents, information on all major "sects" of
the Craft, sections on tools, beliefs, dreams, meditations,
divination, herbal lore, healing, ritual clothing; and much more.
Profusely illustrated and full of authentic music and chants. This
textbook, along with the proprietary Wiccan Course
Syllabus, are in eBook format on the Course Resource CD.
Also
included on the course CD is the Gardnerian Book of Shadows,
which established the key rituals of modern Wicca. Written by practicing wizard
Gerald Gardner (shown at left), this authoritative text was handed down from one
generation of traditional English witches to the next. Other texts and
traditions are covered. The goal is to transmit genuine rituals for group or
individual magic, as well as the background to make your own magical drawings,
writings, and spells. Unleash the magic in you!
The course CD also includes scores other books, articles, and a folder of wiccan
images for further research into the rich history and practices of ancient and
modern witchcraft.
The certificate is sent with the course. After passing the
exam, the student fills in the information per instructions in the syllabus.

Wizard Apprenticeship for Young People

Flamel
College’s Wizard’s Apprenticeship course (MA101) is intended for young
people (ages 10-17) and others who are just beginning in the Magical Arts and
want a very basic introduction. The material here is true to the Hermetic
tradition. The difference is the way the material is presented. The student must
work to gain knowledge in the form of adventures and experiments. Fiction is
cleverly woven with non-fiction, and it is up to the student to detect the
hidden truths.
This course
is taught a real practicing wizard, who goes by the fictitious name of Cornelius
Rumstuckle. While his history and lineage may be a bit exaggerated, his
teachings are genuine. The real Cornelius Rumstuckle is a schoolteacher living
in Minnesota.
The textbook
for the course is The Book of Wizardry. This 328-page book is full of
magical theory and applications presented in an entertaining way. The first part
includes twenty-two short sections on magical topics with practical exercises
describing how to make simple tools and use them, as well as charging and
purifying them. These practical closely guarded secrets to becoming a Wizard are
meant to reveal the true Hermetic teachings. Most of the information and tables
of correspondences are taken from recognized occult authors, such as Arthur
Waite and Eliphas Levi.
The textbook
contains instructions for energy work, meditation, visualizations, and simple
magic. You will also learn how to make your own Wand and Wizard's Tools,
discover your Wizard's name, switch on Wizard's Power, read your future in the
Wizard's Oracle, build your own Wizard's Castle, activate the wizard's Art of
Memory, and call on the greatest wizard of all time: Merlin!
The second
part of the course is written in a "choose your own adventure" style game where
the student uses the practical advice and lessons taught in the previous
twenty-one chapters to arrive at a coded message, instructing him to mail it and
request further and deeper lessons. While the beginning student wizard relies
heavily on tools and implements, it will soon become obvious that the real power
comes from within.
This course
consists of the textbook only. No certificate is issued by Flamel College, but
the successful will be awarded the Certificate of Wizardry and membership in the
Wizard’s Guild after completing all 22 lessons in the first part of the
textbook. This will give the student the knowledge and expertise to successfully
complete the interactive Wizard's Adventure in the second part of the textbook.
This part of the textbook is the exam for the course. Crack the code at the end
of the "Wizard's Adventure."
MA101 Fee: $10.
